Shervani Hilltop Hotel in Nainital is arguably one of the best properties in the region. Shervani Hilltop is run by Shervani Hotels who have a beautiful boutique business hotel in Delhi’s Sunder Nagar area. Shervani Hilltop was started in 1981 as a small garden retreat in the Mallital area of Nainital and it soon started drawing people’s attention  for its landscaping and beautiful gardens.

Shervani Hilltop became a part of Premium Hotels in Nainital after its renovation in 2007. The hotel saw many changes and the speciality of Shervani Hilltop, the beautiful gardens and landscaping, were given a lot more attention than before. The rooms were completely changed and upgraded to facilitate a luxurious stay in Nainital. The exteriors were also touched to give a classy feel to Shervani Hilltop through bright lighting, etc.

Rooms: The rooms in Shervani do not have a lakeview but they definitely do not lack taste. With wooden flooring in all rooms and impressive designing, the rooms in Shervani are a replica of their business hotel in Delhi. We would recommend their Hill View rooms which are located on the first floor of the hotel and offer a great view of the wild hills of Nainital. If you do not get the Hill View Rooms, the other rooms are not bad either. However, we feel the package rates are overpriced for this small hotel in Nainital.

Facilities: We were actually quite disappointed with the facilities part of Shervani Hilltop. While most of the other hotels in Nainital are offering other facilities than just a bar and restaurant, we did not come across any recreational facilities in Shervani. The hotel is located 2 kms from the Mall Road and it makes a lot of sense to offer guests with facilities they can utilize than just sit, eat or drink.

Food and Service: We did not face any problems with Food and Service. But again, we would recommend you to have Indian food than going for Chinese or Continental.

Location in Nainital: Please note that Shervani is not located in one of the best areas of Nainital. In fact it is next to Arif Castles Hotel and the same issues come up in its approach.

Manu Maharani Hotel is named after princess Manu of the Kumaon Hills and now taken over by DS Group (Manufacturers of Rajnigandha, Catch, etc.) who converted this property into a Premium/Luxury Hotel in Nainital. Manu Maharani is located in Mallital which is the VIP area of Nainital at a distance of 1.5 kms. from Naini Lake.

Rooms: Manu Maharani boasts of Lake view from the rooms (partial from some) and after its taking over and renovation (due to which the hotel was closed for almost 01 year in 2007), the rooms have come out good but not what we expected them to be. Manu Maharani scores good points in terms of lake view from the rooms (which also makes it one of the only few hotels in Mallital to offer this luxury) but we were a bit disappointed with the standard (Premium) room size and the decor. The rooms are definitely clean and fresh but we encountered the same problem with Bathroom size. A hotel of this calibre should have taken out more space for bathrooms. On the other side, the Club Rooms were nice, airy and spacious. The only drawback was its close proximity to the Restaurant which could be little disturbing specially at times when there is a big group residing at the hotel.

Facilities: Manu Maharani Hotel is equipped with all modern facilities and scores good points. We liked their Spa which had a variety of Spa and Ayurveda Treatments. However, we were  a little disappointed with our massage. So don’t expect world class spa treatments but definitely good enough for Nainital. Their Spa is in great demand due to the cross massaging they offer :)  The restaurant is fine and serves good veg and non veg food. Manu Maharani is one of the only few in Nainital to have a bar. The choice of drinks was fine but the rates were way too high (that’s probably because of high taxes in Nainital). The 24 hrs Coffee Shop is definitely a Value addition. The hotel also organizes Ghazal evenings, cultural evenings during the summer time.

Food and Service: We were very much convinced with food and service. However, we thought the buffet spread could have been more fancier and bigger.

Location in Nainital:Manu Maharani is located close to the High Court. In fact it is right opposite the High Court. While coming from the lake/mall, take left for the Masjid and and then immediate right after the Masjid. Keep going up and take left from the T point and keep following the road till you see Manu Maharni on your left.
